Entering Canada: Tips for Travellers
All visitors must have valid travel documents and identification to enter Canada, see the sections below to determine your requirements.
Visa Requirements
Requirements may vary depending on the country you’re travelling from or transiting through. You may need a visitor visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization. Find out if you need a visitor visa. Should a visa be required, please apply early to allow sufficient time for processing.
Visa Application
Please refer to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website for information about a temporary resident visa (visitor visa) and review the IRCC Secure Networking Information Letter before beginning your application.
Please note that visa applications are considered by the Canadian Government on a case-by-case basis, based on the information presented by the applicant. The onus is on the applicant to show that they meet the requirements for a temporary resident visa. While a special event code has been assigned to WNCD 2023, it does not offer any advantage to the applicant, in terms of a positive visa outcome. The applicant must meet all the eligibility criteria in order to receive a visa.
Letter of Invitation
Letters of Invitation to participate are available to registered and paid participants of WNCD 2023. During registration you will have an opportunity to request a pdf invitation letter (which will be sent to you by email) at no charge. Invitation letters will be sent once your registration is fully paid. If you require a hard copy letter, a $50 administration charge will apply.
The letter of invitation will reference a Special Event Code. Please note the ‘Letter of Invitation’ is not a guarantee that you can enter Canada.
When preparing your visa application, please ensure you submit the ‘Letter of Invitation to the World NCD Congress 2023”and keep a second copy of the invitation letter to show when you enter Canada.
If your registration is cancelled after you have been issued a Letter of Invitation, the IRCC will be notified and your invitation letter will be voided.
